Ibiza guide
Flying to Ibiza, month by month
How busy the airport gets through the season, when aircraft parking tightens, how early to book, and how to carry on to Formentera. Pick a month.
May
What is on
Hotels, beach clubs and restaurants reopen through the month, and the first club openings tend to fall in the last week.
Aircraft parking
Usually available with ordinary notice.
How early to book
A week or two ahead is comfortable; shorter notice often works.
Onward to Formentera
Ferries sail less often than in high summer, and private boats are easy to arrange.
June
What is on
Opening parties at the large clubs cluster in early and mid June, and those weekends fill quickly.
Aircraft parking
Tight on opening weekends, easier midweek.
How early to book
Weeks ahead for opening weekends; a few days can be enough midweek.
Onward to Formentera
Calm, warm sea; boats are in demand at weekends.
July
What is on
The full season: every venue open, and family travel builds from the middle of the month.
Aircraft parking
Friday arrivals and Sunday departures are the pinch points.
How early to book
Several weeks ahead for weekends.
Onward to Formentera
Ferries are busy, so book private boats early.
August
What is on
The island's busiest month, from beaches to restaurants.
Aircraft parking
The constraint. Many aircraft drop passengers, wait at another airport and return for the flight home.
How early to book
As early as possible. Flexibility on the day and hour helps more than anything else.
Onward to Formentera
Queues at the port at peak times; a private boat timed to your landing saves the most time.
September
What is on
Warm sea and slightly calmer weeks, with closing parties starting at the end of the month.
Aircraft parking
Easing midweek, busy around the first closing weekends.
How early to book
A couple of weeks ahead for weekends.
Onward to Formentera
Still a lovely crossing, with weekend ferries busy.
October
What is on
The last closing parties early in the month, then the season winds down.
Aircraft parking
Busy only around the closing weekends.
How early to book
Early for closing weekends; otherwise short notice is usually fine.
Onward to Formentera
Fewer sailings as the month goes on, so check timings.

Outside the season
November to April
Ibiza's airport stays open all year, and so do flights to it. Many clubs and beach venues close for the winter and the island slows to its own pace, which suits villa stays, walking and long lunches in the villages. Parking is rarely a concern, and short-notice trips are usually straightforward.
Peak weeks in practice
Ibiza is a slot-coordinated airport in summer, so every arrival and departure needs an approved time, and private aircraft also need somewhere to park. When the stands are full, the plan becomes a drop-off: the aircraft lands, you step off, and it flies on to wait at another airport, often Palma or Valencia, about half an hour away, before coming back for the flight home. Your quote shows that plan and its cost before you book.
Carrying on to Formentera
Formentera has no airport. From Ibiza airport it is about 15–20 minutes by car to the port in Ibiza Town, then about 30 minutes by fast ferry to La Savina, or a private boat timed to your landing. Helicopter transfers are sometimes possible, subject to landing permissions.
